Changes at the Granite Gourmet
The main change is… the GG is going to start posting again! That would be a huge change!
A lot has happened since I started this blog a few months (!!!) ago. A huge change in circumstance occurred, in case you haven’t noticed, in the United States and global economies. I’m sure you’ve heard a thing or two on the news about the evaporation of disposable income. Maybe you even noticed it in your own bank account!
Anyway, with all these concerns, it’s been hard for us to justify dropping $13 on a goat cheese and cranberry salad when that same amount of money would buy us the fixin’s to make those salads for like 3 months. So Husband and I have been eating out less frequently, though… I admit, we do manage a little restaurant nosh now and then.
Hey, we ain’t DEAD, just in a recession!
Another change has been in my eating habits. I’ve dabbled a bit in vegetarianism, which sort of makes going to fancy steakhouses moot. From dabbling in vegetarianism, I’ve dove (dived?) right in to veganism. I find it a very satisfying way to eat. I will admit that I am purely a Vanity Vegan, meaning I have eliminated animal products not out of any ethical concerns because, let’s face it, I am essentially a shallow person. Rather, I have eliminated animal products in the hope that it will make me skinnier, healthier, with nice hair and skin. Totally vain reasons, I am not ashamed. So while all this dabbling and diving was going on, I made a lot of meals at home instead of eating out at restaurants.
I will be catching up on some (long overdue) reviews and maybe throwing in a few things I’m experimenting with at home. Would everyone like that?

Good! Welcome to the new, improved and actually maintained Granite Gourmet!
By the way, if you’re interested in some non-superficial reasons to eat vegan, check this site out: chreese.com/veganism.html
