About
I adore eating/talking about/thinking about/reading about good, nourishing food, but my education and work experience have nothing to do with the food industry or nutrition.
I’m a born-again Christian and a lapsed re-committed lawyer.

"Studying" for the bar exam. I did pass, if you were curious.
I’m originally from SoCal and moved to Nashua, NH in May of 2006.
I think I was always a Yankee girl at heart. (Edit: My husband points out that I may want to differentiate between Yankee: the region, and Yankee: the nefarious sports team. I meant Yankee the region and am pro-Red Sox by marriage).
If I see the following things on the menu, I will always, always order them: Escargots, pan-seared foie gras, anything with pumpkin, desserts with coconut, things with fruit compote. Update: Recently I became a vegan and the escargots and pan-seared foie gras are obviously not compatible with that. I may make occasional exceptions to being a Vanity Vegan and order those foods. Because I LOVE THEM.
My handsome husband first introduced me to the joys of $30+ meat at Morton’s Steakhouse. At first I demurred at such extravagance. I eventually got over it.
I tend to avoid whipped cream after a bad childhood experience involving too many cream puffs (an experiment of my sister’s) and an afternoon spent reading “The Secret Garden.”
My favorite cuisine is Moroccan. I also like, in order of importance: Spanish, Italian, Persian, Greek, and Mexican food. I would like to try Ethiopian food, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
My husband and I used to eat at a great Vietnamese place in Bellevue, WA called “What the Pho.” If I were Vietnamese, I would open a restaurant called “Pho King.” Get it?
I think that mayonnaise is from the devil but I like aioli and yes, there is a difference.
I only eat ketchup on French Fries and I always introduce the fry into ketchup, never the ketchup onto the plate of the fries lest it make my fries soggy. Otherwise, I never eat ketchup or mustard.
My favorite ice cream is Cherry Vanilla Chip from Kimball’s Farm. Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia is fine too. Actually, I’m not really that picky about ice cream. Bring it. Update: Actually, this is one aspect of veganism that I will probably stick to as much as possible. Dairy does not agree with my skin. Particularly butter. Dang it. That’s okay, I can make my own raw, vegan ice cream and it’s wonderful!

Some of that famous Granite State fall foliage!
I like gangster gangsta rap as long as the profanity is edited out. I think Britney Spears is a kick ass dancer and Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn have revolutionized American cinema in a good way. Despite my voracious (and shameless!) taste for the very worst of pop culture, I am looking at graduate programs in English Lit. Yet another update: I looked at grad programs in English Lit, took the GREs (general and subject and did well) and even audited a graduate class with a great professor who offered me a letter of rec for grad school. Somewhere in this process I began to get a feeling that I was trying to force something to happen that wasn’t really God’s will for my life. I also realized that if I got in, I would start my course work at 32. This presents a lot of opportunity costs in terms of having a family and I prayerfully had to let this dream go. It did hurt for a bit, but I asked for God’s peace if letting go was the right thing to do. I’m happy where I am now, and that’s what matters.
