I’ve had the flu for six days. Six. And counting. So nothing wonderful is happening in my life (unless you count the RX I got for codeine yesterday, that was pretty wonderful). Food has been not my priority or interest. This is showing up on the scale and I am ashamed to say I see it as a bit of a silver lining.

For the most part, I’m subsisting on coconut water, smoothies (only one green monster), and almond butter and wheat toast. My stomach is just not into food right now.

Blogging will hopefully resume when I return to the land of the living. Which I hope happens soon.

Peace.

I am totally wiped after an amazing day with my friend Kristen in the city. We went to the Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto exhibit at the MFA before heading over to Addis Red Sea for Ethiopian food. I’d never had it before and it was INCREDIBLE. I ordered 4 veg dishes to try (collard greens, cabbage, lentils and split peas). Seriously delicious. I liked it a lot more than Indian food. The spice level was similar without the gloppy sauce. Don’t get me wrong, I love Indian too, but Ethiopian was super light and delicious. I will be going back again!

We also had 2 glasses of wine with our lunch and planned to go back to the MFA to see the regular collection, but realized we only had about 45 minutes until the museum closed.

So instead, we shopped around on Boylston and hit up Anthro. I got a dress for $88!!! I’ve never paid less than a $100 for an Anthro dress in my life (except for that knock-off abomination already discussed elsewhere which I cannot even discuss without becoming rageful).

Pics hopefully coming soon, Kris was responsible and brought her camera. Husband needed ours to document fishing this afternoon.

I need a nap.

Salaamata,

Today was pretty busy. I ran over to Peterborough, which is a cute little town, to pick up a Teavana cup. I grabbed a quick lunch (bean burrito in a whole wheat wrap with guac and salsa, no cheese. This is my favorite food right now. I am eating it sometimes twice a day.)

A river runs through it

" width="300" height="225" />
Not a bad view, eh?

Many of the businesses and homes in Peterborough have these cute little patios that overlook the river. I would love that.

Grove Street in Peterborough

Despite how small the town was, I actually kind got lost wandering around. I thought if I just followed the river I’d be able to find the main street, but the river evidently turns and I wound up WAY far away. Did I mention it was raining? It was quite the adventure.

Then I took my kitchen counter from this:

to this:

ahhhh. Better, no? Better, YES!

Our house is one that we purchased at a foreclosure auction. We bought it knowing it would need to be completely gutted. It was a great deal, a fantastic investment. The only trouble is that living in a constant construction zone takes a toll on your standard of cleanliness. Who cares if your clothes/shoes/books/dishes are all over the place? Add it to the pile.

This was one small step for the counter. Now you should see my desk…

More food stuff tomorrow. Today was just a bit crazy. I made it to the gym and dragged ass the entire time. Whatever I caught last week, it has sent me back to my running level at about 2 months ago. Before I got sick, I could run 3 miles at a 9:30 pace (which for me is MIRACULOUS). Now I’m back to running 10 minutes miles and I need a brief walking break in between.

WAH!!! I loved feeling like an Iron Man. Running fast. Like a leopard.

Oh well, it’ll come back.

Peace to you and yours,

E.

Things seem like they’re back to normal for me… I’m a little rundown, but everything else is staying where it should for the time being, so I think it’s okay to act like a normal person again.

I don’t feel like cooking or chopping veggies though. I have no idea what I’m doing for lunch today. I didn’t feel that hungry for breakfast, and thought I’d pack something to make at work. As soon as I pulled out the Ezekiel muffin though, my stomach felt its siren call. I couldn’t chose between Almond Butter and this slice of yum:So I had both. PB Loco is the one that does not have a bite missing.

Cinnamon Raisin Ezekiel Muffin, 1/2 with Almond Butter, 1/2 with Sumatra Cinnamon Raisin PB Loco

My bones still feel a little achey, so I think I definitely had some sort of virus. I had a swollen gland next to my jaw that hurt whenever I tilted my head back or opened my mouth wide (which happens surprisingly often?). Weird. It’s summer! Why am I picking up viruses???

Anyway, more eats and treats to follow, and a bar review. I have work today and I’m thinking of squeezing in a zumba class at lunch. I have no idea if that’s even feasible.

Peace!

The intestinal disorder that I originally thought was just travel stress and a reaction to new foods decided to ramp itself up this morning, so my body is not back to normal as hoped. Which means I’m not back to the gym and food blogging will probably be off a bit. I called in sick to work and am going to drift around in my pj’s and hope things right themselves. And this is fine, because I have quite a lot of the Jane Austen Mystery novels I can re-read (if I leave about 18 months between each reading, it’s almost like reading them for the first time!) but I am itching to do some online shopping and that’s not okay.

The Granite Casa needs new dishes because our old ones are getting chipped up and the multi-colored plates were fine for 4 years, but now I’m kinda bored with them. I like these from Targe. Here are the plates. I think they’re so pretty (especially the bowls) but I have bar dues to pay and CLEs to take, so my money is already spoken for. Um, also I’m going to see Britney Spears on August 29, so… yeah, I have to watch my spending.

Peace,
